I concede that I overestimated the intelligence of the American people. Though the people disagree with the President on almost every issue, you saw fit to vote for him. I never saw that coming. That's really special. And I mean "special" in the sense that we use it to describe those kids who ride the short school bus and find ways to injure themselves while eating pudding with rubber spoons. That kind of special.

I concede that I misjudged the power of hate. That's pretty powerful stuff, and I didn't see it. So let me take a moment to congratulate the President's strategists: Putting the gay marriage amendments on the ballot in various swing states like Ohio... well, that was just genius. Genius. It got people, a certain kind of people, to the polls. The unprecedented number of folks who showed up and cited "moral values" as their biggest issue, those people changed history. The folks who consider same sex marriage a more important issue than war, or terrorism, or the economy... Who'd have thought the election would belong to them? Well, Karl Rove did. Gotta give it up to him for that. [Boos.] Now, now. Credit where it's due.

I concede that I put too much faith in America's youth. With 8 out of 10 of you opposing the President, with your friends and classmates dying daily in a war you disapprove of, with your future being mortgaged to pay for rich old peoples' tax breaks, you somehow managed to sit on your asses and watch the Cartoon Network while aging homophobic hillbillies carried the day. You voted with the exact same anemic percentage that you did in 2000. You suck. Seriously, y'do. [Cheers, applause] Thank you. Thank you very much.

There are some who would say that I sound bitter, that now is the time for healing, to bring the nation together. Let me tell you a little story. Last night, I watched the returns come in with some friends here in Los Angeles. As the night progressed, people began to talk half-seriously about secession, a red state / blue state split. The reasoning was this: We in blue states produce the vast majority of the wealth in this country and pay the most taxes, and you in the red states receive the majority of the money from those taxes while complaining about 'em. We in the blue states are the only ones who've been attacked by foreign terrorists, yet you in the red states are gung ho to fight a war in our name. We in the blue states produce the entertainment that you consume so greedily each day, while you in the red states show open disdain for us and our values. Blue state civilians are the actual victims and targets of the war on terror, while red state civilians are the ones standing behind us and yelling "Oh, yeah!? Bring it on!"

More than 40% of you Bush voters still believe that Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9/11. I'm impressed by that, truly I am. Your sons and daughters who might die in this war know it's not true, the people in the urban centers where al Qaeda wants to attack know it's not true, but those of you who are at practically no risk believe this easy lie because you can. As part of my concession speech, let me say that I really envy that luxury. I concede that.

Healing? We, the people at risk from terrorists, the people who subsidize you, the people who speak in glowing and respectful terms about the heartland of America while that heartland insults and excoriates us... we wanted some healing. We spoke loud and clear. And you refused to give it to us, largely because of your high moral values. You knew better: America doesn't need its allies, doesn't need to share the burden, doesn't need to unite the world, doesn't need to provide for its future. Hell no. Not when it's got a human shield of pointy-headed, atheistic, unconfrontational breadwinners who are willing to pay the bills and play nice in the vain hope of winning a vote that we can never have. Because we're "morally inferior," I suppose, we are supposed to respect your values while you insult ours. And the big joke here is that for 20 years, we've done just that.

It's not a "ha-ha" funny joke, I realize, but it's a joke all the same.

Anti-Bush Thong Protest Charges Dropped

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Prosecutors dropped the charges Friday against six men arrested for protesting the Abu Ghraib prison-abuse scandal by stripping down to their thong underwear and forming a human pyramid during a visit by President Bush.

Lancaster County District Attorney Donald R. Totaro said prosecutors would not have been able to prove the defendants' actions served ``no legitimate purpose'' - a requirement under the state's disorderly conduct law.

``The mere presence of unwilling viewers does not determine whether unwelcome views are prohibited from public forums,'' he said.

He said that pressing charges ``would only serve to advance the agenda of six protesters through a very public forum.''

American Civil Liberties Union attorney Paula Knudsen, who represented one of the defendants, said: ``We're pleased that the charges have been withdrawn and that the district attorney recognized the importance of the First Amendment values at stake.''

The men, ages 18 to 32, were arrested along the motorcade route during a July 9 visit by Bush to an elementary school in Amish country, about an hour west of Philadelphia. They were recreating an image from photos taken inside the prison near Baghdad in which Iraqi prisoners were abused by U.S. captors.

Knudsen said East Lampeter Township Police violated the defendants' constitutional right to free speech.

If convicted, the men could have received up to 90 days in jail and a $300 fine.

my head hurts from their bad ukemi

As you guys know i went out to "Mike Descado" (see http://michaeldescado.tripod.com/id18.html if you don't get the joke) a shotokan dojo tonight . This is basically how it went. I called up and was asking the usual stuff about what they taught and said I would stop by for a class. I actually walked the few miles to the dojo since it was in the town over and I got a "You obviously train somewhere else" and end up in a class with 3 instructors and no one else somehow, they were all very nice one joked about going to tiger Schulman's and buying a blackbelt and getting your ass kicked, it's fine to talk that way but he hadn't backed up his school would make me into super asskicker. We did cardio for I don't know how long and I seriously did 500 crunches. Haha oops I forgot to mention my first site there, hot chicks, many many basically being sexually harassed by the instructor, wow this is getting more and more like a Mike Descado story, anyway despite the stuff I'm going to go into that would be a reason to go back and try my two other free lessons. Back to the actually training, what little there was. After a good 30 minutes of cardio we finally got into techniques, the only techniques we would do the whole night, I didn't actually time the class, I was focused on the misuse of Japanese terms and the placement of a kamiza on the east wall. Anyway we did some sort of strange combo karate style up block, to side kick, to elbow, to jump in the air and use a leg scissors, so I said of course, since I'm me and you know how I feel about the ground, why would you go to the ground in real life, their answer was this was a "dojo technique" the point of teaching techniques only used in dojo is beyond me but I kept composure. So anyway I'm practicing the nonsense technique combo I weigh 118 and these guys are bigger than me I couldn't generate the leg power to take anyone down the way they had this technique set up, so I said I have his leg right there I can break his knee by stepping in and the instructor says "Well what if you can't", we all know if I can side kick you after you throw a punch at me i can hit your knee and it's going down, so anyway I get this combo done to me and I was yelled at for not slapping the mat, I didn't address this before but they said "Do you know breakfalls?" a lot of buj schools train outside or on cement we know breakfalls, so he wanted koho ukemi, so they do the usual nonsense karate ukemi where they slap the mat, that is one thing I hate slapping the mat leads to broken arms in real life, so we go on with the silly scissor technique and I *try* to do their ukemi and I do it the usual Buj way instead and they say you can't do that on concrete, even though I can and have, so I said "Well he wouldn't be doing this move on the street you said" So then when it's my turn to do this amazing scissor move people just fall for me magically even though I know I cannot have the power to do this unless I have giant metal boots on, so we finish this up and run around the dojo a few times and this ends the class we bow to the misplaced kamiza and I stay and talk to the instructors. They asked about what I trained in and I told them how the buj works and basically this guy dismissed it as crap saying the things i mentioned only work in theory, though this "theory" has been working since 700 ad but anyway I asked if they used any weapons and they said yes, so I assume sai, tonfa, eku, but no sword, staff, spear where they got these techniques from I have no clue I saw a bundle of shinai and I almost asked to do some sword work I've been going over some stuff from the 2003 taikai lately, plus some things that are being taught currently at the hombu and I was really up on sword counters I even practiced some a few hours before I visited this dojo, so the main guy goes in the back and I'm hit with a ton of "Osu!" as everyone is set to leave this I had to comment on I explained the real meaning and rudeness of "Osu" to the people and as we leave a ton more "Osu!" all in all not as horrible as I thought but I didn't get to see any of the students ... aside from the hot girls jumping rope so the whole experience bad as it was I guess is made up by a bunch of lovely parts bouncing, hey a lot of martial artists are perv's so that's the end of the story.

my crazy dreams continue

I've been having some insane dreams lately i slept three separate times today and had three sets of nonsense dreams and nonsense dreams the past two days prior to these. 12 pm to 530 pm was my first set of sleep, this dream was in polish or russian i'm not quite sure, it involved me going into a matress/pillow/quilt store and the sales people only spoke this eastern european language to me. this was probably inspired by strong bad email 111 and marzipan answering machine 11. my next sleep was from 9 pm to 12 am, and was very nonsensical but followed this pattern of the past two days involving strange people i went to hs with. apparently i was being driven somewhere by an idiot rapper i don't know which one but somehow it led to me making out with a girl in the car who didn't know how to kiss, i remember really loud spit sloshing noises, i think alexis michelle was there too probably stemming from the super lovely girl who looks like her posted on sarah's journal rarr god that is a sexy young miss. we drove past roe's house because she made clothes for some sort of king or something like that i don't remember but i know it was really obscure and funny, then like most of my weird dreams i was in high school again just showing up and acting cool even though i graduated, but this time i was so cool i had people asking me how i was so cool, matt kazmarcyk was one of those people. since my dream couldn't be anymore random i woke up at that point. my next sleep session was 12am to 3 something am this dream was considerably shorter but i was back at the mall with the eastern european matress store in it apparently there to play volley ball in a girls clothing store with the aforementioned dream people and fred, steve and whatnot but surprisingly we had to play against everyones parents and the ball was some weird green wacky type ball that flew around all crazy then i woke up. and posed wearing glasses for saladfork my hair sucked the end
